Why? - For work we were having a fancy dress contest. I don't ususally ever get involved with Hallowe'en stuff, but I did this year due to two women in my team being really
enthusiastic and their enthusiasm rubbing off on me. Anyway, it was 29th October and had I to think of something, and this turned out to be it!
Construction Notes
I had been plannin on remaking my Amano Aerith dress so decided instead of letting the current dress go to waste I would use it for this. So I jaggedly cut the hem to make the dress shorter and
then ruffed up the edges with the rouch side of a sponge. I mixed some red fabric paint with black acrylic to make a dark red/brown and rubbed that over the dress with my hands and the
sponge again. Repeated this with some normal red fabric paint. That was the level of 'making' that went into this.
The rest was all stuff I had from my wardrobe. The leggings were bought and the stockings also bought for my Ahiru costume. I covered all areas of bare skin in white snazzaroo face
paint and drew on the stitiches on my legs, arms and chest. Then black snazzaroo was used for the dark circles under my eyes, and red snazzaroo for the cheeks. The most fun thing about
this costume is that I really freaked people out wearing it at work.
I didn't wear a wig, just tied it up in lop sided bunches and back brushed it. The shoes were also a pair of ballet pumps I own. I didn't want anything to match. The idea was that
this was a ragdoll that had been disguarded in mismatched clothes. She wasn't loved any more and had grown resentful, which is why she had come alive.
