Tifa Lockhart, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Worn At - London Expo, October 2007
Difficulty - 3/5
Time Taken - 2 months
Cost - £100GBP
Costume Status - Retired
Hardest Task - Shorts and back skirt
Easiest Task - Shoes
Favourite Aspect - The top. It was comfortable and didn’t leave me feeling to exposed
Least Favourite - The skirt. It was just so heavy. And because I’m a short person, and it kept pulling down at the shorts,
I was constantly paranoid that I was stepping on it, or my underwear was on show.
Why? - This was officially my first cosplay. It was made for me by my friend, GunstarVixen, who very kindly offered to make it for me.
Tifa is no way my favourite character. She never has been. But I like how strong she is in Advent Children. I wanted to do a Final Fantasy cosplay
to go with my friends who were doing Yuna, Rikku and Paine. This seemed the easiest option. Heh, seemed.
Construction Notes
This cosplay was incredibally uncomfortable to wear after a while. The back skirt was exceedingly heavy and it was
a very hot outfit too (we had a warm October that year). However, I had fun wearing it. I was pretty self-concious when wearing it, having never cosplayed
before, and also not worn shorts since I was probably... 11?
The entire thing was made out of leatherette. Lots of leatherette. The shorts did up with a button at the front, and the apron came in really handy, being fully
functional. The skirt was attached by velcro, and because it was so heavy, kept pulling the shorts down. The top was comfortable, not too tight and I was able to breathe
but yeah... not a cosplay I intend to rewear unless I get a spark of inspiration and remake it.
